Q. You're back with Force India for another season! What are your feelings about this? /// P. ¡Volvés con Force India por otra temporada! ¿Qué sentís al respecto?

I made my F1 debut with the team back in 2007 and we've worked together since then, so to stay for another year here feels very right. I've always said that I feel good in this team, it feels like family and when you feel good, you are confident and can push to your maximum. We've made some good progress together over the past four years and I'm excited to be part of the the team when it takes the next step, which is hopefully to become a front running team. We have the same ambitions so it makes a lot of sense to achieve them together. /// Debuté en la F1 con el equipo en 2007 y desde entonces trabajamos juntos, así que quedarme otro año se siente muy correcto. Siempre dije que me siento bien en este equipo, se siente como una familia y cuando te sentís bien, tenés confianza y podes llegar a tú pico máximo. Hemos progresado bien juntos durante los últimos cuatro años y estoy emocionado de ser parte del equipo cuando da su siguiente paso, que esperamos que sea transformarse en un equipo de punta. Tenemos la misma ambición, así que tiene mucho sentido que lo logremos juntos.


Q. What made you want to stay with the team? /// P. ¿Qué te hizo querer quedarte en el equipo?

Over the past four years we've made huge progress. When I started we were at the back of the grid and since then we've got stronger and stronger and are now achieving real results. Force India is now genuinely a strong midfield team, but it's got plans to be even better: I've seen the plans for this year and it looks positive. The car will be quite strong, the team work well together and with the new regulations favouring smaller teams we should be in a good position for the future. /// Durante los últimos cuatro años tuvimos un enorme progreso. Cuando empecé estábamos al fondo de la grilla y desde entonces somos más y más fuertes y ahora logramos resultados reales. Force India ahora es un fuerte equipo genuino de mitad del pelotón, pero tiene planes de mejorar aún más: vi los planes para este año y parecen positivos. El auto será bastante fuerte, el equipo trabaja bien todo junto y con las nuevas reglas que favorecen a los equipos más chicos estaríamos en una buena posición respecto al futuro.


Q. This will be your fifth season with Force India. What are the advantages of staying with a team for a longer period of time? /// P. Esta será tu quinta temporada con Force India. ¿CUales son las ventajas de quedarte con un equipo por un período mayor de tiempo?

You know the team, you know the people, the procedures, the systems and how to get things done so it's a very positive working environment as you can just get on with things. We know each other's strengths and also weaknesses so everything you do happens very smoothly. /// Conocer al equipo, conocer a la gente, los procedimientos, los sistemas y como hacer las cosas es un ambiente de trabajo muy positivo mientras solo seguís con las cosas. Nos conocemos las fortalezas y las debilidades de cada uno así que todo lo que haces pasa como una seda.


Q. What can you achieve with Force India this year? /// P. ¿Qué podés lograr este año con Force India?

I was in the points a lot in the first half of 2010 and I want to keep that going until the end of the season this year. We were quick but it tailed off a little in the middle of the year so to be consistently quick and in the points has got to be the aim. The odd podium would also be very welcome! /// Estuve mucho en la zona de puntos en la primera mitad de 2010 y quiero seguir así hasta el final de la temporada de este año. Fuimos rápidos pero disminuyó un poco a mitad de año así que el objetivo es ser consistentes y rápidos y estar en los puntos. ¡Un podio raro también sería muy bienvenido!


Q. Last year was your most successful season in F1 to date, what has helped you get to that point, do you think you have grown as a driver? /// P. El año pasado fue tu temporada más éxitosa en la F1 hasta la fecha, ¿qué te ayudó a llegar a ese punto? ¿Crees que creciste como piloto?

I'm obviously more experienced and now know when to push and when to hold back. I also know the circuits and the places you can overtake and how to get the best out of the car in them. Plus knowing your team and knowing they understand you gives a real psychological advantage. /// Claro que tengo más experiencia y ahora se cuando atacar y cuando aguantar. También conozco los circuitos y los lugares donde se puede sobrepasar y como sacar lo mejor del auto en esas circunstancias. Además conocer al equipo y saber que me entienden da una ventaja psicológica real.


Q. You have two new team-mates this year, how do you think you will work together? /// P. Tenés dos nuevos compañeros de equipo este año, ¿cómo piensas que trabajarán juntos?

I've known Paul for the past year and we've got a good relationship. He did a really good job in the test driver seat last year and showed he's quick and has a good technical feedback, but he is also open about what he's done and how he felt we could improve. That's really important for the team so it should work well. I know Nico relatively well and he seems like a good guy. Having a good test driver is positive as you know that in every area the team is strong. /// Conozco a Paul desde el año pasado y tenemos una buena relación. Hizo un muy buen trabajo en la prueba de manejo el año pasado y mostró que es rápido y ofrece una buena información técnica, pero también está abierto a lo que hace y como cree que podemos mejorar. Eso es realmente importante para el equipo así que debería funcionar bien. Conozco a Nico relativamente bien y parece un buen tipo. Tener un buen piloto de pruebas es positivo porque sabes que en cada área el equipo es fuerte.


Q. As the most experienced F1 driver in the team now, do you feel there is a pressure on you to lead the team? /// P. Ahora que sos el piloto de F1 más experimentado del equipo, ¿sentís que llevas la presión de liderar el equipo?

There's no additional pressure from the team, they expect everyone to do a good job. The only pressure I feel is the one I put on myself to be as quick as I can. /// No hay presión adicional desde el equipo, esperan que todos hagan un buen trabajo. La única presión que siento es la que me pongo yo mismo por ser tan rápido como pueda.


Q. What are your aims in F1? /// P. ¿Cuáles son tus objetivos en la F1?

Still the same as I had when I came in: to be quick, score points, podiums and wins, and eventually to be a world champion. /// Todavía son los mismos de cuando entré: ser rápido, anotar puntos, podios y victorias, y eventualmente ser campeón mundial.


Q. With the Indian GP coming up this year, will it be a special year to be with the team? /// P. Con el GP indio de este año, ¿este será un año especial para estar con el equipo?

For sure. I have been to India several times with the team and have seen how the team and F1 are getting bigger and bigger. There's now a real fan following and they have got behind the team. Being in a Force India car for the Indian GP is going to be very special and I hope I can do the fans and country proud. /// Seguro. Estuve en India varias veces con el equpo y vi como el equipo y la F1 son cada vez más grandes. Ahora hay fanáticos reales que nos siguen y apoyan al aquipo.
